FCC Says Only Announcements, No Votes, at Jan. 30 Meeting

Due to the appropriations lapse affecting most FCC activities, Commissioners will not vote during their Jan. 30 meeting on the items announced in the tentative agenda released Jan. 3.

Instead, the meeting will consist of announcements, the FCC said today.

If the lapse in funding ends before Jan. 29 and the FCC resumes normal operations by Jan. 29, the meeting will be held at the FCC’s Washington headquarters. If the funding lapse continues through Jan. 29, the meeting will be held as a conference call. Meeting participants can listen to the meeting by calling 866-233-3841 and using pass code 463377.

In either case, the meeting will begin at 11 a.m., 30 minutes later than previously announced.

By statute, the FCC must meet once a month.

The tentative agenda released earlier this month had included votes on ending Connect America Fund Phase I support in certain areas as CAF Phase II support begins, on improving the Internet protocol captioned telephone service (IP CTS) program, on implementing the anti-spoofing provisions of the RAY BAUM’S Act, and on addressing certain broadcast issues (TR Daily, Jan. 3). —Lynn Stanton, [email protected]
