DOL seeks comments on ERISA investment manager electronic registration information collection

By Pension and Benefits Editorial Staff

The Department of Labor is submitting the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) sponsored information collection request concerning electronic registration by investment managers to the Office of Management and Budget for review and approval, without change. In order to meet the definition of investment manager in ERISA Sec. 3(38), state-registered investment advisers must register electronically through a centralized electronic filing system established by the Securities and Exchange Commission or a state investment authority called the Investment Adviser Registration Depository, rather than providing a paper copy of their state registration to the Department of Labor. Public comments are invited.

Comments should be submitted by September 16, 2019, and should be sent to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Attn: OMB Desk Officer for DOL-EBSA, Office of Management and Budget, Room 10235, 725 17th Street NW., Washington, DC 20503, fax: 202-395-5806 (this is not a toll-free number), or e-mail: [email protected].
