Wisconsin updates taxpayer bill of rights publication

By Payroll and Entitlements Editorial Staff

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue has updated a publication that provides guidance regarding the taxpayers’ bill of rights for purposes of personal income, corporation franchise and income, fiduciary income, and sales and use taxes, and personal income tax withholding. The update reflects the department’s positions regarding laws that have been enacted by the Wisconsin Legislature and are in effect as of December 1, 2018. Taxpayer rights include courteous treatment by department employees; information about Wisconsin tax laws; privacy and confidentiality; payment of only the required tax; prompt refund of overpaid taxes; fair treatment during audits; appeal of department determinations; and reasonable tax collection agreements.
