Wisconsin addresses electronic filing of 2019 tax returns with third-party software

By Payroll and Entitlements Editorial Staff

Taxpayers and practitioners may use third-party software to file Forms W-2, 1099, WT-6, and WT-7 electronically. All software providers that generate XML returns for W-2, 1099, WT-6, WT-7, and Data Exchange Files must complete the Wisconsin Payroll Service Provider Software Letter of Intent and be approved through the department's testing program. The department will not accept XML returns until the software is approved. The Letter of Intent was released in September 2019.
