Virginia eliminates minimum wage exemptions; adjusts payment of wages

Virginia has removed removes exemptions for newsboys and shoe-shine boys as well as for babysitters, ushers, doormen, concession attendants and cashiers in theaters but retains the exemption for caddies on a golf course. The bill adds a modified exemption for babysitters, limiting the exemption for those who work fewer than 10 hours per week. (S.B. 1079, Laws 2019, approved March 8, 2019, and effective July 1, 2019.)
