SSA issues two notices of matching programs with DOL regarding Black Lung benefits

In accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act, two SSA notices announce new matching programs with the Department of Labor (DOL).

The first matching agreement establishes the terms, conditions, and safeguards under which the DOL will disclose DOL-administered Part B Black Lung (BL) benefit data to the SSA. The SSA will match the DOL's Part B BL data with its records of persons receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to verify that Part B BL beneficiaries are receiving the correct amount of SSI payments benefits (84 Fed. Reg. 56885, October 23, 2019).

The second matching agreement establishes the terms, conditions, and safeguards under which the DOL will disclose DOL-administered Part C Black Lung (BL) benefit data to the SSA. The SSA will match the DOL's Part C BL data with its records of persons receiving Social Security disability benefits to verify that Part C BL beneficiaries are receiving the correct amount of Social Security disability benefits (84 Fed. Reg. 56885, October 23, 2019).

Both matching programs will be applicable on November 25, 2019, and will be in effect for a period of 18 months.

Comments due November 21, 2019. Interested parties may comment on the notices by either telefaxing to (410) 966-0869, writing to Matthew D.
