SSA issues new notice announcing addresses for summonses and complaints

By Payroll and Entitlements Editorial Staff

The SSA’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for processing and handling summonses and complaints in lawsuits involving judicial review of its final decisions on individual claims for benefits under Titles II, VIII, and XVI of the Social Security Act, and individual claims for a Medicare Part D subsidy under Title XVIII of the Act. The notice sets out the names and current addresses of those offices and the jurisdictions for which each office has responsibility.

The new notice replaces the notice the SSA published on February 11, 2020 (85 Fed. Reg. 12370), and reflects the jurisdictional assignments for the agency’s Regional Chief Counsels' Offices and its Office of Program Law for cases filed on or after January 1, 2020.
