South Carolina issues 2021 withholding tables

South Carolina has issued a new computer formula withholding tables for wages paid on and after January 1, 2021. All of the tables will be reproduced in the Payroll Management Guide at ¶8248 and ¶8249 in a future release.

In addition, South Carolina created a new SC W-4 for 2020 and has updated the form for 2021. The updated Form SC W-4 continues to include allowances. Starting January 1, 2021, all newly-hired South Carolina employees are required to complete the 2021 Form SC W-4 and the 2021 federal Form W-4.

The Form W-2 and Form 1099 that the employer provides to the SCDOR, IRS, and/or Social Security Administration must have the full SSN, FEIN, or ITIN. 4th Quarter Withholding Returns (Oct-Nov-Dec 2020) are due January 31, 2021. File online using MyDORWAY. Businesses are required to submit Form W-2s to the SCDOR by January 31, 2021. The SCDOR recommends that you upload W-2s through MyDORWAY - it's fast and easy. If you are required to submit Form W-2s electronically to the Social Security Administration, you're required to use MyDORWAY to submit Form W-2s to the SCDOR.
