New Hampshire Governor vetoes minimum wage bill

On August 9, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu vetoed Senate Bill 10, which would have raised the state’s minimum hourly rate in stages to $12 per hour by 2022. In his veto statement, the governor said the bill “would have a detrimental effect on not only the very Granite Staters it purports to help, but also the New Hampshire Advantage.” He noted that in 2018, only 0.0015% of New Hampshire workers earned a minimum wage or less, and of that almost 90% were tipped employees.
