The Kansas DOR withholding tax guide has been updated and applies to wages paid on or after January 1, 2017. The guide provides information on rates, reporting and payment, registration, and other withholding tax topics. The withholding tables have not been changed. All of the tables are reproduced in the Payroll Management Guide at ¶6278 and ¶6279.
Revisions to the guide reflect the following:
- Because the rates for TY 2017 changed mid-year, many employees may not have withheld enough for their 2017 tax liability. As a result, the 2018 tax rates were used in creating the 2017 tax tables. Using these rates for the second half of 2017 should help most employees "catch-up" on their TY 2017 withholding. For more information, see Notice 17-02.
- Starting with TY 2017, annual forms (like the 1098 and the 1099 series) are due by January 31 of the following year. For more information, see Notice 17-10. (KW-100, Kansas Withholding Tax Guide, Kansas Department of Revenue, November 2018.)
