By Payroll and Entitlements Editorial Staff

Iowa has issued new wage-bracket and computer formula withholding tables for wages paid on and after January 1, 2020. The tables will be reproduced in the Payroll Management Guide at ¶6248 and ¶6249 in a future release.

Note that Iowa has issued final regulations that extended the current due date for forms VSP, Verified Summary of Payments Report, W-2 and 1099 with the Department from January 31 to February 15. The new deadline also applies to Forms W-2 and 1099 furnished to employees. Only Forms W-2 and 1099 that reflect Iowa state withholding need to be submitted to the Department. (Iowa Regulation IAC 701—46.3(422); Iowa Department of Revenue, Individual Income Tax Withholding Formula, Effective January 1, 2020, Released October 2019; Iowa Department of Revenue, Withholding Tables, Effective January 1, 2020, Released October 2019.)
