Delaware updates answers to W-2 and 1099 FAQs for 2019

By Payroll and Entitlements Editorial Staff

The Delaware Division of Revenue has updated its answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding W-2 and 1099 personal income tax withholding requirements for the 2020 reporting period. The FAQs note that Delaware due dates for W-2 and 1099 submissions have been changed to be consistent with federal due dates. The due date for paper and electronic submission of W-2 for the 2019 tax year is January 31, 2020. The due date for paper submission of 1099-R is February 28, 2020, and for electronic submission is April 1, 2020.

Taxpayers are encouraged to submit annual W-2 and 1099 reports electronically. However, a taxpayer is permitted to submit these documents on the paper provided that it is allowed to do the same for federal tax purposes. Further, Delaware Form W-3 must be included with paper submissions of W-2 and 1099 reports. Taxpayers who submit W-2 and 1099-R electronically are not required to send Form W-3.
