On October 1, 2018, fiscal year 2019 begins for several Medicare prospective payment systems (PPS), including those for inpatient hospital services (IPPS), long-term health care (LTCH), skilled nursing facilities (SNF), hospices, inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF), and inpatient psychiatric facilities (IPF). Wolters Kluwer compiled its analyses of the regulatory changes for each into a Special Briefing that also includes information about changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) payment model. The Special Briefing discusses yearly payment updates, CMS’ efforts to reduce providers’ regulatory burdens, continue moving toward value-based purchasing (VBP) programs, and changes to quality measures.
