An August 8, 2018, administrative order (83 FR 39871) continued the requirements of Executive Order 13222, of August 17, 2001, which declared a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States related to the expiration of the Export Administration Act of 1979, as amended (50 USC 4601 and following). Congress has not renewed the EAA, requiring a continuation of the declaration of national emergency. The order, issued in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 USC 1622(d)), continues for one year the national emergency declared in E.O. 13222, as amended by E.O. 13637 of March 8, 2013. The declaration remains in effect until August 17, 2019.
