Roberta Karen Chevlowe, a senior counsel in the Labor & Employment Law Department of Proskauer Rose LLP, has been practicing employee benefits law for more than 25 years. Ms. Chevlowe has extensive experience advising employers and other benefit plan sponsors with regard to a broad range of issues relating to pension and health (and other welfare) plans. She advises clients regularly with regard to compliance with the Affordable Care Act; ERISA’s reporting and disclosure requirements and fiduciary duty provisions; COBRA administration; plan qualification issues arising under the Internal Revenue Code; and the requirements imposed by numerous other federal and state laws affecting employee benefits.
Ms. Chevlowe is best known for her work on issues relating to COBRA compliance and the provision of benefits to domestic partners and same-sex spouses. She lectures and publishes articles on a variety of employee benefits topics. In addition, Ms. Chevlowe is a member of Proskauer’s Health Care Reform Task Force, and she led the firm’s Domestic Partner Benefits Task Force.
