Robert Rachal, Esq. is Of Counsel to Jackson Lewis, P.C., in its New Orleans office, and was formerly a partner of Holifield Janich PLLC. For over 25 years, Mr. Rachal has focused his practice on complex ERISA and executive compensation litigation, including defending DOL investigations and advising ERISA fiduciaries. Mr. Rachal’s work has included advising fiduciaries and defending companies, plan providers, and plan fiduciaries in all types of ERISA litigation, including claims against employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) fiduciaries that the ESOP stock was overvalued and claims regarding executive compensation and benefits.” Mr. Rachal’s work also includes providing expert testimony and consulting on issues that arise in ERISA litigation and benefits claim processing.
Mr. Rachal was recently named Best Lawyers® 2019 Lawyer of the Year, ERISA Litigation, New Orleans, and he has been repeatedly recognized by Chambers and US Legal 500. Mr. Rachal is a Fellow and Member of the board of governors of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and is active in the ABA Labor Section’s Employee Benefits Committee. Mr. Rachal is also a prolific writer and lecturer on ERISA litigation and fiduciary issues, including for the ABA Joint Committee of Employee Benefits and Bloomberg BNA, and is a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Benefits Law Journal, Wolters Kluwer.
