Janet Anderson-Briggs has been involved with the tax, pension and ERISA laws governing qualified retirement plans, 403(b) tax-deferred annuities and Section 457 nonqualified deferred compensation plans of tax-exempt and governmental employers for over 30 years. She is currently employed by a large financial services organization. Previously, she worked for Mercer consulting and was involved in 403(b) and 401(a) plan design and vendor searches, technical and compliance issues, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and plan governance issues surrounding fiduciary obligations of retirement plan boards. While at Mercer, she worked with nonprofit organizations and governmental organizations, primarily universities, school boards, museums, foundations, and health care organizations. Before joining Mercer, she was Senior Counsel and Assistant Secretary for The Variable Annuity Life Insurance Company (VALIC).
Ms. Anderson-Briggs has lectured and written extensively in the areas of section 403(b) tax and ERISA compliance. Among numerous publications she has authored, she is co-editor and contributing author of 403(b) Answer Book for more than 20 years.
Ms. Anderson-Briggs received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, New Jersey. She received her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law Houston, in Houston, Texas. She is licensed to practice law in the States of Texas and Washington. She is a FINRA insurance investment products registered principal.
