Ilene H. Ferenczy is the managing partner of Ferenczy Benefits Law Center, an employee benefits law firm in Atlanta, GA. As author of five books and more than 100 articles and co-editor of the Journal of Pension Benefits, Ilene is a nationally known leader in the pension arena and well versed in the legal and technical challenges faced by employers and fiduciaries, third-party administrators, and investment advisors and managers. Having become an ERISA attorney after more than ten years as a third-party administrator, she brings a unique and practical approach to her advice. Her expertise includes retirement plan operations, fiduciary liability issues, mergers and acquisitions, and representing of plans before the IRS, DOL, and PBGC.
Ilene speaks frequently throughout the country on benefits issues. She is on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA), a former member of the Leadership Council of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), and a recipient of both ASPPA’s Educator of the Year Award and NIPA’s Excellence in Education Award. She is a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, on the Employee Benefits Advisory Board of the John Marshall Law School Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits in Chicago, IL, and is a past adjunct professor at Georgia State’s College of Law in Atlanta.
