Mr. Bass has over 40 years’ experience in complex structured transactions, primarily in the area of state and local finance, and includes structuring secondary market offerings and derivatives. Innovative transactions have been a hallmark of his practice. His transactions have received professional and national recognition for their creative approaches. In particular, one was recognized by The Bond Buyer as a”Midwest Deal of the Year;” another received The Bond Buyer’s inaugural ward of “Non-Traditional Deal of the Year.” Mr. Bass has also been recognized as a Lawyer of the Year by the Michigan Lawyers Weekly. He has taught as a member of the adjunct faculty of the Boston University School of Law and the New York Institute of Finance. Mr. Bass has spoken at numerous legal and financing seminars, including New York University’s Fifth Annual Global Economic Policy Forum, “The Public Debt Crisis: Domestic and International Perspectives.” He enjoys the high regard of his professional peers, having received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, “AV–Preeminent.” Mr. Bass is now retired from the active practice of law and devotes his time to legal research and writing. He is co-author of “Municipal Debt Finance Law: Theory and Practice, Second Edition,” a Wolters Kluwer publication.
