Al Holifield, Esq. is the founding member of Holifield & Janich, PLLC. Mr. Holifield has focused his practice in the areas of employee benefits law, employee benefits litigation, health care compliance, employment law, employment litigation, and business law. He represents local and national companies from various industries including, but not limited to, hospitals, insurance companies, restaurants, doctors’ offices, government contractors, and construction companies.
Mr. Holifield represents employers regarding employee benefit litigation and compliance issues. He assists clients in DOL investigations and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits. Regarding compliance issues, Mr. Holifield represents clients regarding the drafting, structuring, amending, and terminating of retirement plans, welfare plans, and nonqualified plans as well as counseling them with regard to fiduciary responsibilities, the complexity of class action lawsuits, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, and Affordable Care Act requirements. He provides day-to-day advice to clients regarding best practices for their plans and other compliance issues.
Mr. Holifield has been recognized by Best Lawyers in 2019, Super Lawyers for the Mid-South since 2016, is a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, and is the Management Co-Chair of the ABA Joint Committee of Employee Benefits. Mr. Holifield speaks throughout the country on employee benefit issues.
